The Issa Chronicles
Series of fictional books inspired by Issa Rae’s HBO series Insecure. Book covers were influenced by the experiences of the show’s main character Issa Dee. Illustrations paired with typography create an eye-catching cover.
Insecure is a show filled with color and vibrance, often using warm lighting to highlight the skin of the black actors in the series. For the book covers, it was important to continue this vibrant use of color to draw the viewer’s eye. The choice of book title or subject was motivated by the personality of Issa Dee.
